About Cancer Voices South Australia

Cancer Voices South Australia (CVSA) is a 100% volunteer-led organisation dedicated to improving cancer outcomes and the journey of those affected by cancer. We achieve this through advocacy, raising awareness, sharing information, and community involvement.

Our Mission & Focus

We represent the voices of people affected by all types and stages of cancer, across:

  • Prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and palliative care
  • Public, private, community, and hospital and specialist settings

We focus on whole person care and wellbeing, not just illness, and take action on key issues to drive meaningful change.

What We Do

  • Advocate for better cancer care and services at state and national levels
  • Provide consumer representation in health and research projects
  • Contribute to education for medical, nursing, and health science professionals
  • Promote physical activity for prevention, recovery, and wellbeing
  • Share relevant cancer-related information
  • Encourage those with lived experience to shape decision-making and research

  • Founded in 2007 as an incorporated body in South Australia
  • Achievements & Awards:
    • In 2012 Ashleigh Moore received a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the community
    • In 2019 Cancer Voices South Australia were Finalists, Community Achievement Awards
