About Cancer Voices South Australia

Cancer Voices SA is a 100% volunteer organisation led by people who are passionate about ‘making a difference‘ to cancer outcomes, and improving the journey for those affected by cancer.
We do this through health system advocacy, raising awareness, sharing information and community involvement.

We use personal experience and knowledge in representing the views and diversity of people affected by:

  • all cancers, types and stage
  • prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, palliative care etc. –  across the whole cancer spectrum
  • public, private, community, hospital and specialist settings

Cancer Voices was established as an incorporated body in South Australia in 2007.

What we do:

We use lived experiences to develop, adapt or implement innovative approaches to ‘raising a voice for those affected by cancer’.
We focus on wellness, not just illness.
We take action on issues of concern.
We provide consumer representation on cancer-related projects and programs around health and research at the state and national level.
We contribute to educational activities for medical, nursing, health science students and health professionals.
We support and encourage involvement in physical activity in the community as well as prevent or delay cancer, cancer relapses and/or enhance recovery during or after cancer treatments.
We disseminate information relevant to people affected by cancer.
We support and encourage those with experience of cancer to contribute to all levels of decision-making and research about this disease.
